2ND WEEK: An Introduction to Software Engineering

It was a late Tuesday afternoon as we start our scheduled class 6pm-9pm. It is our only face-to-face class that day so I was really looking forward of the class. I was 3minutes late when I arrived. When I entered the class our professor was almost done checking with the attendance. After our professor checking the attendance our professor greeted us with a game which is  "Rebus puzzle".

After the mini games we proceeded with the class lesson in which we tackled "What is Software Engineering?". I learned a lot in during the discussion especially about the fact that Software Engineering is not only about coding but it is about using the right tools and method in creating a reliable program/product. It requires documentation of the thorough examination and studying about the problem and how does the program/product is used to help solve the problem.

We also tackled about the Evolution of software design techniques. In which our professor also shared about the type of program/product in which in the early days the programmers always go on debugging as they just code and directly. Meanwhile in todays era, to have a successful program/product it must undergo several steps of studying and documentation before coding. Software Engineering also not just only makes the product reliable but also it is also about designing.

After our professor finished discussing the module he grouped us, dividing the class into 4 groups. And i was part of the group 1 in which out professor handed us an activity in analyzing the project and our project was "Wilderness Weather System". In which it is about a project that is a weather system in the wilderness. Our professor gave us 30minutes to discuss with the group and create a PowerPoint presentation about it. So me and my groupmates discussed the project and dissected its information. With a small amount of time I created started to create the presentation with the help of Gwen and Mary Ann and finished it, but due to unforeseen circumstances we cannot send the PowerPoint to the group. Thankfully Novem stepped in and created a new one and copied the information from the one we made. Thankfully the Presentation was presented well and we ended our class by the professor giving us a task for our manuscript. And thankfully the heavy rain stopped exactly as we end our class exactly at 9pm.
